How to use Kluster☣︎Phuchr™
Plain-spoken, no jargon. Here's every part of the terminal, where to find it, what it does, and how to use it. Free users and paid users have the same interface — the only difference is what each side gets for free vs. paid.
The top bar — your controls
Across the top of the terminal you'll find the main controls. From left to right:
- Page title. Shows the title of the current conversation (an "Op" in Kluster's language). Click the mobile menu icon next to it on a phone to open the sidebar.
- Workflows button (or ⌘J). Opens the workflow launcher — 12 structured pipelines like Strategy Brief, Offer Construction, Negotiation Prep, and more. Each one walks you through a prompt, pulls doctrine, and produces a downloadable deliverable. Free users can run workflows during the trial; paid users get unlimited.
- Ingest button (or ⌘U). Opens the document upload dialog. Accepts TXT, MD, JSON, CSV, HTML, PDF, DOCX. The document is extracted, classified, scanned for prompt-injection, and indexed into your private knowledge tree.
- Keyboard icon (or ⌘/). Opens a shortcuts overlay.
- Gear icon (or ⌘,). Opens Settings — see section 7 below.
- PROVIDERS badge. Shows the current AI provider (GLM, DeepSeek, or OpenAI-compatible) and the model. Click it to switch providers or models. Models with a "reason" tag (DeepSeek R1, GLM Thinking) do chain-of-thought reasoning. Your selection persists across reloads. Free users store the selection in a cookie; paid users sync it across devices via Supabase.
- Mobile menu/inspector icons. On phones, these open the sidebar (left) or inspector (right) as bottom sheets.
The left sidebar — your Ops
The sidebar lists every conversation (Op) you've created, most recent at the top.
- Search bar. Type to search across titles AND message content. Results update live with a snippet showing where the match was found.
- New Op button. Start a fresh conversation.
- Pin. Pin important Ops to the top of the list.
- Tags. Add tags to an Op (e.g. "client-A", "hot") for grouping. Filter by tag via the tag bar above the list.
- Archive / Restore. Hide stale Ops without deleting them. Toggle "show archived" at the bottom of the sidebar to see archived items.
- Export. Export an Op as Markdown, JSON, or plain text — the export includes all messages + sources + timestamps.
- Bulk actions. Click the multi-select icon to pick several Ops at once for bulk delete / archive / export.
- Recent files. A collapsible section at the bottom of the sidebar lists files you generated via workflows (e.g. strategy-brief.md). Download links expire after 7 days.
The center — your conversation thread
The middle of the screen is the conversation. Your messages on the right, Kluster's replies on the left, with sources shown as small chips below each Kluster reply.
- Send a transmission. The text box at the bottom. Press ⏎ to send, ⇧⏎ for a newline. The "/" key opens slash commands (/workflow, /ingest, /search).
- Massive pastes accepted. There is NO character limit. Paste an entire document, contract, or transcript — it gets stored byte-faithfully and sent to the model in full. The box grows up to 60% of your screen height, then scrolls internally.
- Sources. Kluster pulls from the knowledge base (and any docs you ingested) and cites them inline as [1], [2], etc. Click a citation chip to jump to the source in the inspector.
- Feedback. Each Kluster reply has 👍/👎 buttons — your feedback is logged for the admin to see what's working and what isn't.
- Regenerate. Click the regenerate icon on the last Kluster reply to retry the turn (e.g. if you don't like the answer).
- Export dropdown. Top-right of the thread — export the whole conversation to Markdown/JSON/TXT.
The right inspector — Retrieval, Archive, State, Runs
The right panel has four tabs. On mobile, open it via the inspector icon in the top bar.
- Retrieval. Shows what Kluster pulled for the last turn: how long it took, the docs it hit, the words it searched for, and the actual source list with relevance scores. Click a source to jump to it in the Archive tab.
- Archive. The full knowledge tree — 100+ seeded entries across doctrine domains (CIA, FBI, War, Sales, Phoenix, etc.) PLUS any documents you've ingested. Search by typing in the search bar; filter by category using the chips.
- State. The Conversation State Log (CSL) — verified facts Kluster extracted from your messages and re-injects on every turn so it doesn't contradict you.
- Runs. Workflow history for this conversation.
The trial banner — your usage
A thin amber bar at the top of the terminal shows your trial status.
- Free users. Shows "X turns left" (out of the configurable allowance — default 30) and "X web searches" remaining (out of 5 free onboarding searches). When turns run out, the banner switches to "trial exhausted — upgrade" and you'll need the Operator plan to keep chatting.
- Paid users. The banner disappears entirely — unlimited everything.
- Cookie clears don't reset it. The trial counter lives on Kluster's servers and is keyed to your browser identity. Clearing cookies, refreshing, or logging out/in does NOT give you another trial.
Web research — verified, not fake
When you ask Kluster to research something on the internet (e.g. "look up the latest news on X"), the system runs REAL web retrieval through the verified research pipeline:
- 5 free searches. Free users get 5 verified web searches during onboarding to experience real web research. After 5 are consumed, free use becomes local-knowledge-only unless upgraded.
- Unlimited for paid. Operator subscribers get unlimited verified web research.
- Real citations. The system never fabricates URLs, publication titles, quotes, or sources. Citations link to the actual pages fetched. If no real results came back, Kluster does NOT claim to have searched the internet.
Settings — preferences + redaction
Click the gear icon in the top bar (or press ⌘,) to open Settings.
- Retrieval Depth. "Number of knowledge entries pulled per turn. More entries = More time waitin'". A slider from 3 (lean) to 12 (deep). This is a knowledge-base control — it doesn't affect web-search quality.
- Display. Toggle inspector-on-by-default, show all timestamps, and streaming mode (token-by-token vs. all-at-once).
- Redact PII on upload. OFF by default — your uploads are stored as-is. When ON, structured PII (emails, phones, SSNs, credit cards, IPs, US addresses, dates) is masked using [EMAIL]/[PHONE]/… markers. Ordinary names, framework names, research/source material, and knowledge content are NEVER auto-redacted — only structured PII patterns.
- Accent theme. Pick from Amber (default), Bone, Brass, or Taupe — all warm-palette colors that match the dark-brown identity. (Cyan, emerald, and coral are retired — they conflicted with the warm identity.)
- Sync for paid users. Your settings sync to Supabase automatically — log in on a different device and your preferences follow you. Free users store settings in browser localStorage only.
Account — optional, not required
You can use Kluster forever as a guest — your data is tied to a per-browser cookie. But if you want your data to survive a cookie clear or move between devices:
- Sign up at /account — your existing guest data is automatically adopted by the new account.
- Log in anywhere — your conversations, files, and settings (for paid users) restore from Supabase.
- Forgot password? Use /reset — single-use 60-min reset tokens are emailed to you.
- Operator plan. $29/mo via Stripe. Removes all turn/workflow/ingestion limits, unlocks unlimited web research, and syncs your settings + data to Supabase.
Admin console — for the operator
If you have the admin token (a secret password set by the operator when they deployed Kluster), you can access /admin — the back-office control panel.
- Overview. Top-line counts, recent turns, provider breakdown, feedback, ingestion status, usage trends, cost-by-conversation.
- Turns. Filterable turn log — by provider, fallback status, feedback, search.
- Providers. Health + the locked prompt verification.
- Analytics. Application analytics, growth (new users per day), trial → paid conversion, per-turn operational metrics (avg/p50/p95/p99 latency, error rate, fallback rate), model/token/cost breakdown, workflow usage, web-search usage, 14-day usage trends, subscription/MRR estimates, feedback, knowledge-base distribution, the active prompt version. Location is intentionally null — we don't collect it.
- Prompts. The prompt version registry — view, create new version, activate (transactional flip), roll back. The locked v1.1.0 persona is the immutable audit baseline. Admin-published prompts take effect through the REAL backend execution path — not just UI text.
- Knowledge. Add/remove/replace/edit knowledge entries; manage categories (create/rename/reorder/activate/deactivate); move entries between categories; search/filter the corpus.
Policies — the rules of the road
The legal side of Kluster lives at /policies — Terms, Privacy, AI Disclosure, Acceptable Use, Cookies, Retention, Export, and Deletion. Everything there is written to match what the code actually does — no boilerplate.
- Privacy. What we store, why, and for how long. Includes the fact that we do NOT collect IP-based location data.
- Retention. How long raw turn logs are kept (30–90 days, configurable) and how conversations live until you delete them.
- Citations + web research. How verified web research works, what gets stored for audit, and the no-fake-citations rule.
- Export / Deletion. How to get your data out or have it removed.
Free vs. paid — what you get
Free users get:
- Full-featured local product experience (everything except the few things that need a server to stay fair, like the trial counter and the web-search allowance).
- Browser-local storage for conversations, files, and settings — plus the minimum server records needed to authenticate you, hold your trial slot, and run the meter.
- A usage-based trial — default 30 turns (the operator can change this without a code push; the limit stays put even if you clear your cookies).
- 5 free onboarding web searches to experience real web research.
- After the trial is exhausted, free use is blocked at the upgrade gate.
Paid (Operator) users get:
- Unlimited turns, workflows, ingestion, exports.
- Full unlimited web research — verified, no fake citations.
- Persistent Supabase-backed storage — conversations, files, preferences, settings, and other account state survive logout/login and follow you across devices.
- Local browser fallback/cache where useful.
- Provider/model preference synced across devices.
This app map reflects the actual implementation as of v1.0.0 of the policies. If functionality changes, this page updates.
